Qt オープンソース版

フリー (またはオープンソース) ソフトウェアはユーザにいくらかの権利が与えられたソフトウェアである。 とりわけ、ソフトウェアを使用する権利、改変する権利、ソースコードを得る権利、そして (おなじ条件のもとに) 配布する権利が与えられている。 ここでの "フリー" とは権利についての言葉であり、料金を指して言っているのではないことを留意頂きたい。 Free Software Foundation (GNU GPL の作者) は、この文脈でのフリーとは "フリースピーチ" と同じものであり、"無料" のことを指すものではないと言っている。

Nokia supports the free software concept by providing the Qt Open Source Edition. You can use this edition of Qt to create free software, i.e. software that is licensed under the GNU GPL or a similarly recognized open source license. The support of open source with the Qt Open Source Edition has enabled large successful software projects like KDE to thrive, with thousands of developers around the world using Qt Open Source Edition at no cost to themselves. With the release of Qt 4, Qt Open Source Edition is available for Unix/X11, Mac OS X, and Windows.

It is also possible to develop commercial software using Qt: but to do so you must buy a commercial license for one of the Qt Commercial Editionsのライセンスを購入頂く必要がある。 Qt のコマーシャル版を購入頂ければ、ソフトウェアに自由な金額・自由なライセンスを付けて販売頂ける。 何千もの企業で製品開発に Qt の商用版が利用されている。

これらの権利は、ソフトウェアの基になった全てのモジュールの、全てのソースコードに適用される。 コードを書いた人が誰であろうと関係はない。 この権利はまた、実行形式のコンパイルとインストールを制御するスクリプトおよびコントロールファイルをも含めた、 関連する全てのインターフェース定義ファイルにも適用される。 さもなくばユーザが権利を行使することが阻害される恐れがあるからだ。

This means that you cannot use a Qt Open Source Edition if your software must be built with any modules that impose conditions on you that contradict the conditions of the GNU GPL, including, but not limited to, software patents, commercial license agreements, copyrighted interface definitions or any sort of non-disclosure agreement (NDA). In these circumstances you must use a commercial edition of Qt.
